According to Strutt and Parker research, whilst the number of sales across the whole of Central London are down by 55% since January 2006, prime Central London is holding up well. Across our central London offices volumes during the first six months of 2008 were only down by 15% on the same period in 2007.

It would appear that from January to June 2008, that there was significant correlation between market activity and property values, the top end of the market being the most active.

This market activity has seen several significant sales at record levels, one house selling for nearly £20,000,000 achieving more than 3,000 per square foot. Good houses in Chelsea continued to sell in good numbers at between £1,600 and £1,900 per square foot.
